FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, Ore. … Unforgettable romantic music from Broadway will be highlighted in the Oregon Symphony performance of “A Broadway Romance” on November 25, 26 and 27 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Resident Conductor Gregory Vajda will lead the Pops performance, which will include some of Broadway’s best showtunes, such as “Tonight” from West Side Story, “All That Jazz” from Chicago, “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady and “Wonderful Guy” from South Pacific.
Vajda will be joined by vocalists Patty Goble and Hugh Panaro. Goble most recently appeared on Broadway as Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera and in the new revival of La Cage aux Folles. Panaro recently starred in the title role of Elton John’s latest Broadway show Lestat. This past year he co-starred with Bernadette Peters and Michael Crawford in a benefit tribute to Broadway and West End producer, Sir Cameron Mackintosh.
“The ‘boy meets girl’ aspect has inspired music from very different styles and times. The audience will hear memorable melodies, as well as stunning orchestration and great voices,” said Vajda.
Performances are scheduled for Saturday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, November 26 at 3 p.m. and Monday, November 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $29 to $80 and may be purchased at the Oregon Symphony Ticket Office, located at 923 S.W.
