Timothy Scott

Cello

Cellist Timothy Scott was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1950. While in New York he attended the Juilliard School of Music and Sarah Lawrence College, studying cello with Maurice Eisenberg. After touring the United States as cellist with Harry Chapin for two years, Tim moved to Portland to become a member of the Oregon Symphony in 1973.

During the 30 years he has lived in Portland Tim has been very active as a member of many chamber music ensembles and summer festivals. He has also been a soloist with the Oregon Symphony, Columbia Symphony and Marylhurst Symphony. In recent years he has performed chamber music with Chamber Music Northwest, Third Angle New Music Ensemble and the Portland Baroque Orchestra.

In addition to his activities as a cellist, Tim plays viola da gamba in chamber music concerts and as soloist in the Bach Passions. He teaches viola da gamba at Reed College and is often heard in performance there.

Tim lives in Eastmoreland with his wife (who sings and plays recorder) and his two teenage stepsons. He enjoys reading, working out at the gym, camping and spending time with his family.
